Lexar’s new PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD showcased: 7GB/s read speed

December 17, 2012 – Nowadays, PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSDs are using Clusterlink’s PS5016-E16 NVMe master, which can reach 5 GBps in mainstream products, much faster than the standard PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSDs. Now Lexar is showing off their new SSD prototype with speeds up to 7 GB/s.

Recently, Lexar showed off a prototype PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD to be released in Q2 2020, which the company says is capable of sequential read speeds of 7GBps and write speeds of 4GBps.

In CrystalDiskMark, the SSD reached 6.2/4.2 GBps read and write speeds. Later, the company ran tests with Iometer and confirmed that the SSD could achieve sequential read speeds of 7.5 Gbps.
